London Cocktail Week: A Festival for the Drink Lovers

London Cocktail Week: A Festival for the Drink Lovers

From now until October 12, drinks are flowing freely in the English capital thanks to London Cocktail Week, a citywide celebration of all things buzzed and boozy. Over 200 of London’s favorite bars are offering £4 cocktails, and there is no shortage of pop-ups, parties, and events paying homage to London’s drinkable history, which guarantees a fun night out.

If you want to explore London through its libations, or just throw a few back with friends, here’s a short guide for you to get in the spirit(s).

How to Participate: You must buy a wristband for £15 ($24), which allows you access to all the participating bars, tastings, events, and parties.

The Highlights: Mr. Fogg’s Bottomless Tipsy Tea: Head to Mr. Fogg’s in Mayfair for a twisted tea party on October 12; £60 ($97) gets you two hours of bottomless Tanqueray cocktails served in traditional teapots; Oct 12, 2 to 6 p.m.

CheekyTiki Pop-Up Bar: The Atomica Gallery in Shoreditch has transformed into a Tiki headquarters this week, hosting a cocktail party, a “Tiki Pop” book signing, rum tastings, talks, and other related events, all for free; Oct 7 to 12, various times.

Don Julio Mexican Street Festival: Tequila lovers now have a home at Translate Bar, where Don Julio has created a free fiesta of artwork, Mexican street food, pumping music, and the largest tequila selection in all of East London; Oct 6 to 12, 5 to 11:30 p.m.

Holiday Drinks

Holiday Drinks are essential for your Holiday Entertaining! Some Holidays have traditional drinks, like Egg Nog goes hand in hand with Christmas, along with Hot Chocolate for the kids!  GREEN Beer is pretty standard for St. Patrick's Day, and Cinco de Mayo calls for a Margarita. (at least it calls ME for a Margarita!)

Special Events like Weddings, wouldn't be the same without the traditional Champagne Toast, which is also common on New Years Eve at midnight. Other drinks can go well paired with any Holiday or Observance.

Some of our Favorite Holiday Drinks, have their own annual Observance Day, or Month, set aside to honor our beloved drink!  Like who doesn't celebrate and appreciate National Margarita Day on򠿫ruary 22nd?

Water is great as a drink, and can be improved by adding some lemon or fruits.  I love the idea of placing fruit in ice trays, filling with water and freezing and using in your drinks.  Like food, you can overindulge on the drinks filled with sugar, caffeine, and alcohol, so "moderation", is always great!

You can find all of the Annual Drink Observances below: (Over time, we will be doing a devoted page for each of these below that will include some Holiday Drink Recipes. We will also have a devoted page for each day of the year and linking them up here when completed.)

Coming Soon, we will also have an opportunity for you to share your favorite Holiday Drink Recipes.
